Indeed Family MVP

What was this?

The Incubator team hypothesized that a tailored experience could offer a superior way to connect care seekers and caregivers compared to Indeed.com.

Indeed.com served as our baseline to validate the initial concept during the 3-month funding round. The plan was to use any further funding rounds to expand and develop the product.

The Problem

Careseekers and caregivers cannot connect in an efficient manner on Indeed.

Our Solution

Leverage Indeed’s advantage of 2 million job searches for babysitter jobs in the US and implement a strong response rate to enable a great experience for care seekers. (Initially limited to Austin)

KPI’s

Cost to sign up caregivers, % completed caregiver profiles, apply rate, average number of caregiver profiles viewed by care seekers, contact rate of caregivers to care seekers compared to Indeed.

Challenges

Capturing both sides of the marketplace and ensuring alignment with legal on our approach.

Kickoff

I designed and led a 3-day kickoff session. On the first day, we reviewed research and generated “how might we” questions. On the second day, we brainstormed ideas and finalized our MVP plan. On the third day, I began the designs while the engineering team started setting up their environment.

For our MVP, we landed on the following necessary features:
  • A way for care seekers to post open roles
  • A way for caregivers to view and search these open roles
  • An approach for caregivers to message care seekers (email for MVP)

Indeed Family MVP Designs

After getting the first pieces in place we started marketing to both sides of the market place to bring enough users on board to start testing out our initial theory. After acquiring our first few users we expanded to include a caregiver profile and care seeker job posting and management.

Outcome
Zigzag line

I led design for the MVP for this project and then handed it off to another designer on the Incubator team. This project continued to ran for another quarter, but was sunset due to concerns from Indeed legal team about protecting vulnerable populations of users on Indeed.com

Project Details

The Team

  • 1 UX - myself
  • 1 Product Manager
  • 2 Engineers
  • 1 to 2 rotating Engineers

Timeline

1 week - to get initial designs

Remainder of the quarter - test, get user feedback, iterate and improve on the initial designs.
